The academic school year is over but there is still time to apply for scholarships! Here are 7 tips to help you make the most of summer when searching for scholarships to save you money for the next academic school year:
- Do your research: Find local scholarships first, then work your way up to affiliated program scholarships and then national scholarships.
- Consider your options: Don’t avoid scholarships valued under $500. Smaller scholarships add up and can cover the cost of text books, and other expenses.
- Plan ahead: Schedule scholarships by deadlines and dedicate the time to request for a letter of recommendation in advance and not the last minute.
- Scholarship Work: The more work the scholarship requires you to do to apply, the fewer applicants.
- Match your Interest: Apply for scholarships matching your interest, your major, a base merit of skills, talent, or extracurricular activities.
- Quality: Submit well thought out work free from grammatical errors, and meet all the requirements asked, i.e. Letters of recommendations, essays, ect …
- Thank You: Don’t forget to write thank you letters after accepting a scholarship. Also don’t forget to thank your professors for writing letters of recommendations!
