Committed to celebrating and supporting Hispanic women/Latinas, Prospanica DC and Mujeres de HACE DC/McLean Auxiliary Board are joining forces to celebrate Women's History Month on Saturday, March 27 from 10AM–Noon ET. Women’s History Month celebrates the contributions that women have made to the United States and recognizes their specific achievements over the course of American history. Hispanic women/Latinas are a central thread in the fabric of our society and also deserve recognition during this special month. Join the women of HACE and Prospanica as we come together to acknowledge our shared values, common challenges, discuss work-life integration strategies, and discover career advancement tools that will help us continue to succeed.
Session 1: She, A Leader Who Integrates Successfully Speaker: Cristy Lopez, Ph.D.Go beyond work-life balance, which often sets up a competitive and compartmentalized mindset that usually creates stress as well as feelings of guilt and inadequacy, to work-life integration. Dr. Cristy Lopez, psychologist and high-performance coach, will help guide you to a better and more clear understanding of what work-life integration is for you, how you create, maintain, and evolve it, as well as how this mind and behavioral shift will benefit you and your loved ones. You will leave this session with helpful tools and an action plan that you can start implementing today! Session 2: Latina Women Career Advancement Panel: She, A Leader Who Resists and Persists Panelists: Koralia Siles, Vice President of Branch & Business Center Manager at PNC Bank; Belén Mendoza, Vice President, Campaigns at AARP; and Librada Estrada, Coach and Facilitator at Librada Estrada Consulting, LLC Do you ever wonder how other Latinas have successfully navigated interactions involving stereotypes, such as when you are seen as the sexy or fiery Latina, told your English is ‘really good’, or get tokenized because of your name or ethnicity? Join us for this panel of Latina professionals who will discuss their experiences with addressing stereotypes and share strategies they have used to overcome the toll that they take. Speakers will also talk about how they navigate obstacles to succeed as leaders in their fields.
